Publicist Dies En Route To Funeral Of Hollywood Shooting Victim
A publicist handling the forthcoming film co-written and produced by John Atterberry, the music executive who was fatally shot during the December 9 Hollywood shooting rampage, died while en route to the music executive's funeral on Wednesday.
While waiting for a Metro train, Scotty Dugan, according to witnesses, reached for his head in pain then collapsed on the ground, says The Hollywood Reporter. Dugan was on his way to Atterberry's funeral at the West Los Angeles Church of God in Christ in South Los Angeles.
The 52-year-old publicist was rushed to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, where he was pronounced dead.
Dugan was informally handling public relations for "God's Country," an independent film co-written and produced by Atterberry.
Atterberry, 40, was shot in the face and neck by Tyler Brehm while sitting in his car on December 9 and died on December 12 at Cedar's Sinai. Former vice-president at Death Row Records, he worked with acts like Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera and The Spice Girls.
The L.A. County Coroner's Office has yet to determine the cause of Dugan's death.
