KTLA Weatherman Says Producer Demands & Empty Stomach Spurred Adult Tantrum

In the wake of his adult tantrum on live television, KTLA weatherman Henry DiCarlo has some 'splainin' to do.

Following an interview segment at Union Station earlier this week, DiCarlo ranted about both the lack of communication in his business and time to present his usual weather forecast. He then stormed off camera.

Appearing on the "KTLA Morning News" to explain the incident, DiCarlo said, "It doesn't matter what the circumstances were - it wasn't a pretty sight for me to act like that, and I get that," reports L.A. Times. Speaking to his colleagues, he added, "But personally, you guys have seen much worse from me, so I didn't think I was that bad."

DiCarlo said he had planned a four-minute segment but was verbally scolded by his producer 35 seconds into his story.

Seated next to DiCarlo during the hissy fit follow-up was producer Roxane. She explained the episode from her point of view. "He was supposed to do the weather first, then whatever time was left, he was supposed to get into the segment. I felt that people needed to get their weather first. I might have been yelling a little loud in his ear to get to the weather."

In addition to lacking ample time for his assignments, DiCarlo joked that he lacked breakfast and coffee that day.

If I remember correctly, Mr. DiCarlo came down here from Q13 in Tacoma Washington, a station not exactly noted for journalistic intelligence or integrity.  Also, I seem to recall hearing stories of him doing things like this while he was there, too.  Hmm.....

  • I'm such a transit nerd the first thing I noticed was that he was standing at the East Portal to the Red Line at Union Station.

Also, I know all about the lack of "communication" in the communications business.

  • The media is a lot of hype

Annnnd... this is why I no longer watch local news. They're all idiots with too much hair gel and not enough actual professionalism and/or class. RIP Hal Fishman, the last of the great LA Anchors.

  • I thought DiCarlo was justified in what he did....and I had no problem with him walking away.  The effeminate male newscaster was offensive...sounded like a little gossipy school girl....and THAT was ugly.
