The U.S. Secret Service is investigating a former Carson City Council candidate after he posted a rather serious and concerning call for action on his Facebook page on Sunday - the assassination of President Barack Obama and his children.

Jules Manson, a 48-year-old Libertarian who ran for City Council in March 2011, lashed out at the president and his family after learning that Obama had signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Manson wrote on his Facebook wall, "Assassinate the f------ n----- and his monkey children," reports The Daily Breeze. The posting has since been deleted from his page.

After much deserved negative backlash, Manson apologized for his racist insult. He told The Daily Breeze on Tuesday, "I was infuriated, I was incensed, I was very very hurt by it. I'm only explaining. I'm not justifying anything. I wrote the most vile and hateful words to express my condemnation for him doing this to the American people. It was horrible. I deeply regret it and I'm deeply shamed by it. I cannot express how much I wish I had not done that."

Three Secret Service agents paid the impulsive poster a visit on Monday, searching Manson, his home and his car. They also interviewed members of his family to probe whether or not he is a threat to the president. Manson, who has apparently not given up Facebook since the incident, posted about the visit on Monday night.

The Secret Service gave me a visit. Agents Corey, Andy, and Stephanie were very pleasant with me. They must have had 30 questions. They listened to what I had to say and I even consented to a search of my home and vehicle. They even sat at my computer to see what I had on there. I cooperated with them and was fully honest with them because I have nothing to hide.

Although the federal government is very intimidating they were not. I understand they are working for this institution and have a job to do but they also assured me that they want to find something if there is something to find and want to clear me if there is nothing.

As far as they are concerned I have been cleared but they have to go through the motions of submitting their findings to the U.S. Attorney's Office. They assured me that by cooperating it would go far better for me because it demonstrates that I was hiding nothing.

Members of the Carson community are appalled by Manson's actions. Municipal Water District Board Director Don Dear told CBS LA, "My brother is the mayor of Carson. These folks are concerned about the reputation of their community."

If malicious intent is found in the case, the U.S. Attorney's Office will file charges.

    Carson needs better representation.

Who gets their photo shot against a studio backdrop and can't turndown his jacket collar?

  • Aw now it's gone.  Maybe I can follow him on Twitter. I love public stupidity.

  • He should be tried for treason

Perhaps he's trying to make it to the NDAA's top candidate to have his rights violated.
