Pencil This In: Bad Santa Party, Swinging Christmas Concert and A Josephine Baker Play

It's getting closer to Christmas and that means a little quieter on the events front. Here's what's happening around town tonight: a play about Josephine Baker opens, The Moth is at El Cid, John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey have a swinging Christmas and a Pink Taco party. Read on for all the details.
PERFORMANCE
J.E.T. Studios in NoHo presents Bananas! A Day in the Life of Josephine Baker, a one-woman play based on the extraordinary life of international star and civil rights freedom fighter, Josephine Baker. With drama, comedy, and music, the play recounts Baker’s “rise from the slums of East St. Louis to the grand stages of Europe.” Written and performed by Sloan Robinson, the play runs through Feb. 29. Tickets: $30. senior/students $20. 8 pm.
STORY
The Moth storytelling takes over El Cid tonight at 7:30 pm. Tonight’s theme is “ancestors”—so storytellers are asked to prepare a five-minute ditty about your family tree—secrets, lies, pride and all—without reading from notes or doing a stand-up routine. Doors at 6 pm. Admission is $8 at the door.
MUSIC*
Deck the Hall—Walt Disney Concert Hall’s holiday series—continues tonight at 8 pm with the program Swingin’ Christmas with John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey. Jazz guitarist/singer John Pizzarelli and his wife, actress/singer Jessica Molaskey, present a swinging program of seasonal favorites and standards. Tickets: $41-$97.
PARTY
Pink Taco in Century City hosts a Bad Santa Christmas party tonight from 6-10 pm. There will be drink specials and a chance for you to get your picture taken with Santa and his sexy elves.
