Could There Be An Occupy The Rose Parade VS Tea Party Showdown?

The Pasadena Tea Party Patriots, also known as TEAPAC, requested to march their conservative political agenda into the Rose Parade today.

Occupy the Rose Parade has approved plans to demonstrate at the January 2 event, and TEAPAC has asked the Tournament of Roses for the same consideration. The group has yet to reveal their parade master plan, reports Pasadena Star-News.

With schemes to display signs near the Norton Simon Museum, across from television cameras, Occupy the Rose Parade will also carry a 250-foot banner of the U.S. Constitution from Orange Grove Boulevard to a post-parade rally at Pasadena City Hall. Peter Thottam, the leader of Occupy Rose Parade, said demonstrators will display "a giant octopus to represent Wall Street's stranglehold on the economy and the political system."

The Tournament of Roses has yet to grant TEAPAC permission to join the parade.

I suppose the Tea Party wants to protest against the Constitution.  Occupy Rose Parade isn't a political party or organization like the Tea Party and hardly needs equal time!  It's laughable.

  • They're just trying to stir up an "US vs THEM" vibe. Both groups are about the weak banding together against the powerful.

*Awesome* not only will my home (live on parade route) but littered with trash from all the damn tourists that use the street/sidewalk/lawn as their personal garbage can, but let's throw in more people(and with that human waste) the city will have to clean up after.

  • Love it or leave it.

Just curious, were you aware of the parade route when you bought your home?

Yes, but I thought people would at least be respectful of other people's property and not cross that barrier. Of course I guess that's just too much to ask people to be civil - because I'm sure these people would go apeshit if I were to throw stuff on their homes/lawns.
