Reel Talk with Steven Farber screens The Flowers of War, China's official submission for the foreign language Oscar of 2011 at the Wadsworth Theater. The epic film from Zhang Yimou (Raise the Red Lantern, Hero, House of Flying Daggers) stars Christian Bale as an American trapped in Nanking during the Japanese invasion of 1937, who tries to save a group of schoolgirls hiding in a church. Guest speakers TBA. 7 pm. Tickets: $22.

The Eveleigh on Sunset has been hosting guest bartenders on Monday nights all month. Behind the bar tonight from 7-10 pm is Marcos Tello, brand ambassador from Bol's Genever and a player in LA's classic cocktail resurgence. He’ll be shaking things up with Bol's Barrel Aged Genever.

This event was postponed from last month. The International Documentary Association holds another installment of its Doc U educational seminars at Cinefamily tonight. The panel discussion—moderator Lisa Leeman and panelists Kirby Dick, Ondi Timoner and Marina Zenovich—will cover the basics of directing and conducting the documentary interview. Discussion/audience Q&A 7:30-9 pm. Tickets: $20/IDA members $15. Reception follows.

Deck the Hall: Holiday Concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall continue tonight at 8 pm with The Klezmatics. The Grammy-winning klezmer superstars will prep us for Chanukah with envigorating and danceable sounds steeped in Eastern European Jewish traditions and spirituality. Tickets: $38-$97.
