Gang Member Gets 155 Years For Murder of High Schooler Melody Ross
16-year-old Wilson High honors student Melody Ross was the unintended victim of a drive-by shooting outside her Long Beach school in October 2009. Today, her killer, 18-year-old gang member Tom Love Vinson, was sentence to 155 years and six months to life in state prison for the teen's death, reports City News Service.
Vinson, 16 at the time of the shooting, was convicted in September of first-degree murder.
The shooting took place following a homecoming football game while students attended a dance on campus. Vinson fired into the crowd of students, aiming for two rival gang members. He, and another suspect, were tried as adults.
