The westbound side of the 60 freeway is finally open after a trucker tank exploded into an inferno on Wednesday, causing structural damage to the overpass and headaches for commuters.
The lanes opened shortly before 11:15 am this morning, according to the Los Angeles Times. Caltrans is still working on reopening the eastbound lanes but they haven't given an exact timeline but it could be this afternoon. The transit agency has gone back and forth on the timelines a few times over the last few days as they balance making sure the bridge is structurally sound with the demands of commuters.
The bridge over the reopened westbound lanes hasn't been demolished yet, but crews are planning on doing the work in the middle of the night so that it doesn't interfere with the daytime commute.
