Pencil This In: Henry Rollins Interviews Dinosaur Jr., Mad Tea Party & Sci-Fi Double Feature

Refrain from holiday shopping for one night and enjoy the eclectic mix of events offered this evening. The Avalon hosts a benefit concert for fallen heroes, and the Upright Citizens Brigade is putting on four shows. If you feel like playing dress-up, Steven Madden invites Mad Hatters to attend a mad tea party on the Third Street Promenade. Dinosaur Jr. takes The Music Box stage with Henry Rollins while Pussy and Pooch holds a kitty holiday mixer in downtown L.A. And for you Sci-Fi fans, the Million Dollar Theater screens a double feature.

BENEFIT CONCERT
Cops4Causes presents its annual "Fallen Heroes" benefit at the Avalon. Pauley Perrette will host with Kristen Vangsness as her co-host. The Lopez Tonight Band, Don Felder of the Eagles and David Paich of Toto will perform music for the celebrity-studded crowd along with tunes by DJ Ravi. Police officials will be honored with the Visionary Award. 7pm-10:45pm. $25-$1,000.

COMEDY
The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre boasts four shows tonight, three of which are sold out, one of which is not. "Spank" invites guests to witness two new sketch or solo shows birthed before their eyes. 6:30pm. $5. There will be stand-by lines for "Maude Night," "Facebook" and "Cagematch."

FASHION
Steve Madden invites Angelenos to dress in their Mad Hatter best and follow him down the rabbit hole in "Mad Tea Party" at the store's Santa Monica Third Street Promenade location. The night's best dressed will win best outfit and be rewarded by L.A. blogger Song of Style. Guest can sip on signature cocktails, receive complimentary touch ups by makeup artists, shop special sales and pose for a photo shoot. 6pm-9pm. Free.

FILM
UCLA Film & Television Archive and the Million Dollar Theater present a Sci-Fi double feature of "The Day The Earth Stood Still," directed by Robert Wise, and "The Island Earth," directed by Joseph Newman. 7:30pm. $10 general admission; $9 students and seniors. The UCLA student free ticket policy does not apply, and tickets are available only at the theater box office, which opens one hour before the program start time on the day of the show.

MUSIC*
Dinosaur Jr. will perform their classic album Bug in its entirety tonight at The Music Box. Henry Rollins will interview the band on stage before their set. Pierced Arrows featuring members of Dead Moon will open the show. Doors open at 8pm. Show starts at 9pm. The show welcomes all ages. $44.35 (including Ticketmaster fee).

PETS
Pussy & Pooch's downtown L.A. store hosts "Twinkle Meow Mingle Holiday Social & Kitty Adoptions." Guests will enjoy a festive menu for both felines and humans and 15% off all store purchases. Kitty Bungalow will be there in case anyone wants to adopt. 6pm-9pm. Free.
