Damn, That's Cold: Local City Sets Low Temp Record at Chilly 13 Degrees

Maybe the East Coasters are laughing at us, as we shiver in our furry Uggs and lightweight jackets, during this recent cold snap. In the overnight chill, however, Palmdale got as low as they've never gone before, setting a new record at 13 degrees (um, that's Fahrenheit, folks), dipping lower than the previous record of 15 degrees. Brr!

Oddly enough, the previous record was set on December 7, exactly 33 years ago. At least we're consistent!

Things are still chilly in the Antelope Valley this morning, with temps in the 30s and 40s. Elsewhere in Los Angeles County, temps are in the low to mid 50s, but we should warm up to the mid to upper 60s by this afternoon.

Those c-c-c-old morning and nighttime temps have led many to take to Twitter to complain. "The last two mornings ha[ve] been colder in LA, than in New York and Chicago - Global warming where did you go?" bemoaned @jesperbaehrenz. "It's colder here in Burbank right now than it is in New York. Seriously? What the fuck!" said @stephhlovely.

WTF indeed! Keep warm, Angelenos!

(You think just maybe the fact that the previous record was the SAME date might have been a clue)?

The east coasters won't laugh at 13. That is cold for most of the country. North Dakotans would laugh at 13 if they could stop whistfully pining after a daytime high that warm.

Not to play contrarian, but it would be well for us to remember this cold snap come next summer when things will most likely be way, way hotter for longer than usual.
