Trader Joe's shoppers in Studio City were faced with more than just selecting from the store's array of hummus choices this afternoon. A man was stabbed in front of a dry cleaners next to the grocer.

Authorities responded to the scene at the strip mall on Ventura Boulevard at 12:10pm. A male stabbing victim, identified as Len Kalcheim, was found in front of Laurelwood Cleaners and rushed into surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Kalcheim is in good condition.

A female suspect, who Studio City Patch reports is a homeless woman, was taken into custody.

A motive for the stabbing has yet to be determined, and authorities say the two did not know each other, according to KABC.

Jim Ebiahaimian, the own of the cleaners, described the incident to Studio City Patch. "I was in the back talking to my tailor and I could see my longtime customer walking from his car and this woman looked like she was hitting him," Ebiahaimian said. "He came up to me and there was blood all over his shirt, he was full of blood and asking for help. I called the ambulance. He was leaking blood all over."

An investigation as well as a search for the weapon are underway.
