Nonstop From Florida To Fullerton: 60-Year-Old Chik-fil-A 'Raving Fan'
Chik-fil-A opened its Fullerton chain this morning to 100 hungry Chik-fil-A fans turned campers. Following tradition, the chain promised 52 meal certificates to each of the first 100 customers.
But free weekly meals for a year comes with a price. The 100 lucky winners were selected via raffle from over 200 fans who flocked to the new location on Wednesday. Winners had to remain at the parking lot campsite for 24 hours before granted their meal tickets at 6:30am Thursday morning.
The OC Register reports that a Richard Coley, 60, flew in from St. Petersburg, Florida for Fullerton's grand opening, marking his 71st Chik-fil-A opening. Pinned to his shirt was a Chik-fil-A badge dubbing him a "Raving Fan." Sadly, he didn't win the raffle but camped out nonetheless.
Susan Morris, Chik-fil-A grand opening event planner, explains in the below video, "What they win is a year of Chik-fil-A, which is 52 #1 meals. It's a Chik-fil-A sandwich, our waffle potato fries and a beverage."
The Fullerton eatery marks Orange County's 12th Chik-fil-A. 2,500 applicants vied for jobs, and 70 were selected.
