Grandma Stabbed to Death in South LA, Possibly By Her Grandson

An elderly woman was stabbed to death in South L.A. today, and the suspect may be her grandson.

Authorities were summoned to the 900 block of West 41st Street and transported the 89-year-old victim to a local hospital at 2:10pm. She died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police believe the grandson may be the culprit and could be barricaded inside the home. The LAPD has setup a command post at the scene and shut down at least one neighborhood block as police searched for the suspect.

NBC LA reports that officers may have discovered a man hiding in a nearby shed, inciting a standoff.
