Infant Suffocates After Allegedly Being Left Unattended

A two-month-old baby suffocated and died after allegedly being left alone the night before Halloween, reports NBC Los Angeles.

Corrina Atuatasi, 27, was watching her infant son on October 30 while her husband and two-year-old daughter were away visiting family. After being invited to a neighbor's apartment for drinks, she allegedly left two-month-old Aiden Galeai unattended in the house. She then came back, put Galeai in a carseat, and went back out.

The following morning, Atautasi called 911 when she couldn't find her son. He was later discovered face down in a pile of clothes, already dead. It's not clear how he got there.

Atautasi will be arraigned tomorrow in a Santa Ana court. She faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, child abuse and causing bodily injury to a child under the age of 5. If found guilty, she could face up to 12 years in jail.
