Love Black Friday But Hate the DREAM Act? There's An Event For You

The campaign to overturn the DREAM Act is steadily gaining steam in California. Opponents of the state law, which allows undocumented high school graduates to apply for financial aid, have been gathering signatures throughout the state. If they get enough signatures, they will be able to put the issue up to popular vote.

Opponents of the DREAM act kicked off their campaign in conservative strongholds in the Central Valley. And for the next week they are targeting opponents in the Inland Empire. All day today opponents of the law are targeting Black Friday shoppers at the Upland Colonies Shopping Center in the Inland Empire at a "Park N Sign," according to CBS Los Angeles. Next week outspoken DREAM act opponents and shock jocks John & Ken are holding a "Stop the Dream Act Petition Rally" in Ontario, according to The San Bernardino Sun.

Groups such as "We the People California's Crusader" and "Stop AB 131" are hoping to get signatures from at least 500,000 opponents of the DREAM act by January 6 in order to put the issue up to state voters next year. The groups oppose giving funding to illegal immigrants and say that money should be going to legal state residents.

"Our state is very low on funds to the tune of being in debt billions of dollars and we feel, particularly at this time, to protect taxpayer-funded financial aid to students in our country unlawfully is an incredible waste of tax dollars," said Robin Hvidston, executive director of We the People and an Inland Empire representative for Stop AB 131. "We believe every tax dollar should be going to American college students that are struggling."

AB 131 is against the CA Education Code and is therefore, Illegal:

This just in: Ab 131 will now cost $65 Million and WILL HURT Legal
Californian Residents in receiving their aid, by the bi-partisan

Read for yourself, the Bill AB 131 CA DREAM Act (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors--12-35) and see how it targets Illegal Aliens in its title and contents:

    Then, read the analysis:

And to help, the definition of AB 540 students (Illegal/"undocumented"), the population targeted by AB 131. AB 540 students does NOT include Legal California Residents.

  • Just so everyone knows, 70% of all AB 540 students that would qualify for the
CA DREAM Act are LEGAL RESIDENTS AND CITIZENS (people who went to a CA
high school but left the state for some time, and decided to come back).
Only 30% of those students are undocumented. So you're not only hurting undocumented students, but you're also hurting US citizens and legal residents by going along with this stupid petition.

  • More bluff coming from someone who is prejudiced. Where are the facts as to how this would destroy CA's economy? The only reason why you're against it is because you don't know anything about it.

  • ShakinBoots

Another silly person arguing with nothing but assumptions. Just because someone is not in favor of handing out freebies and more incentives to illegals, does not make them predjudiced, racist, or any of the other BS labels you try to put on them. It's not too smart to assume people "don't know anything about it" just because they don't support it.

Also, if you're asking someone else to show you, "where are the facts" maybe it's you who needs to educate yourself. Nobody needs to prove anything to you. If you're attempting to convince people the nightmare act makes sense, then YOU post the links and take your best shot.

    Weak weak weak. Silly wabbit.

Thanks, SB--couldn't have said it better.  I, for  one, don't just make up facts, news stories, editorials.  It would be easier, though, 'cause sheeple just love fantasy. Of course, the race/prejudiced card gets thrown out there as a last resort.

  • ShakinBoots

Looks like sheeple and silly wabbits share a gene :)

It's such a childish tactic for them to throw down the race card. They just don't have any logical or convincing argument in favor of this insane "dream" act.

Thanks for posting the links btw. I'll be sure to share them with all of my Mex-American family who also oppose the "dream act". I think I just stepped on Silly's race card.

  • ShakinBoots

Geez, for the hundredth time, John and Ken are in NO WAY shock jocks. Where do you come up with this? Is it "shocking" that they oppose the dream (sell out America) act? No, most citizens of all racial backgrounds did not support it.
