Bottoms Up, Keys Down: Thanksgiving DUI Checkpoints
Have you checked the bottles of beer, wine, bubbly and hard liquor off your Thanksgiving shopping lists yet? We knew you would. And so did the LAPD. Thanksgiving Eve is the biggest drinking night of the year, and police are ready for drinkers who fail to abstain from driving. A few DUI/Driver's License Checkpoints and DUI Saturation Patrols have been announced. Scroll down for the details, if you aren't already too drunk to read.
DUI Saturation Patrol
Where: Pacific Area
When: Wednesday, November 23 - Thursday, November 24: 6pm-2am
Sobriety & Driver's License Checkpoint
Where: Sunset Boulevard between Maltman Avenue and Silver Lake Boulevard
When: Friday, November 25 - Saturday, November 26: 8pm-2am
Sobriety & Driver's License Checkpoint
Where: Roscoe Boulevard at Noble Avenue in North Hills
When: Saturday, November 26 - Sunday, November 27: 8pm- 2am
Additionally, the Pasadena Police Department will conduct a "Zero Tolerance" DUI Saturation Patrol starting at 8pm on Wednesday, November 23 and ending at 3am on Thursday, November 24.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that checkpoints have
proven to be the most effective DUI enforcement method. Drivers caught driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension, insurance increases, fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000, per a LAPD release.
Let's just avoid all of the above and either stay sober or stay put this Thanksgiving season, L.A.
