LAst Night's Action: Kings Look Up at the Stars

Dallas Stars defeat LA Kings 3-2 (OT). After withstanding a Dallas flurry at the start of the second period, the Kings scored twice in just over 30 seconds: Mike Richards extending his career-high five-game goal streak and Kevin Westgarth with his first career goal. The last King to have a five-game scoring streak was Dustin Brown who had a six-game streak from Jan. 17 to Jan. 31, 2009. But with 20 seconds from a win, Loui Eriksson scored off of a neutral zone faceoff win to send the game to overtime. Steve Ott gave the Stars the overtime win. To quote Rob Scuderi, “You have to keep your foot on the gas pedal to win in this league.”

Phoenix Coyotes defeat Anaheim Ducks 4-2. I guess things looked optimistic for the Ducks when Saku Koivu scored a goal to give the Ducks the 1-0 lead in the first period. After two periods the Ducks had only eight shots on goal.

Michigan Wolverines defeat UCLA Bruins 79-63. There was no consoling the Bruins in the consolation game of the Maui Invitational. The Bruins lone victory this season was against Division II Chaminade. Let that sink in for a while.

Loyola Marymount Lions defeat Idaho State Bengals 79-76 (OT).

LA Lakers at Oklahoma City Thunder. Cancelled.
