Volunteers on Horseback Will Ensure Peaceful Parking Lots During Holidays
Mall parking lots are no joke during the holiday season -- a swiped spot can be all it takes for a driver to unleash his or her holiday-induced rage.
That's why the Riverside Police Department is enlisting the help of eight volunteers on horseback to help patrol lots in the area, reports NBC Los Angeles. The volunteers will be riding their own horses, and the county will only pay for the uniforms, the cost of which will come out of drug forfeiture money.
The extra help will start on the day after Thanksgiving and stick around throughout the month of December.
