Stupid Criminal Files: Parolee Flees Crash Scene, Climbs a Tree, Is Arrested When He Falls Out

Another lesson from the Stupid Criminal Files: If you're going to flee the scene of a car crash, climbing up a tree to get away from the cops is not necessarily a winning technique. A parolee gave the ol' tree climb getaway a late Monday night, only to have his plan foiled when he tumbled down in front of the police.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was allegedly involved in a DUI-related traffic accident on the 5 Freeway in Burbank. The crash prompted the shutdown of the freeway while the scene was investigated by the California Highway Patrol. Burbank Police responded to the accident as well, following reports witnesses saw the man from the crash flee the scene on foot.

Officers saw the suspect fall from the tree at around 2:30 a.m. and he was taken into custody shortly after.
