LAst Night's Action: No Blues for the Kings

LA Kings defeat St. Louis Blues 3-2. Mike Richards with a goal and an assist helps lead the Kings to their fifth victory in seven games. Jonathan Bernier in his first start since Nov. 8 gave up a shaky goal in the first shot of the game. But he recovered to save 23 shots including 14 in the second period.

Kansas Jayhawks defeat UCLA Bruins 72-56. Did anyone really buy into the Bruins after their win Monday night against Division II Chaminade? Granted the Bruins played perhaps their best game against the Jayhawks with Tyler Lamb’s 15 points and Jerime Anderson’s 14 points leading a Bruin second half comeback that brought the 20-point deficit down to five with eight minutes left in the game. The Bruins ran out of gas and the Jayhawks ran away with the game. As fun as the game was, let’s face it: it’s going to be a long season if they can’t make a jump shot.

USC Trojans defeat Morgan State Golden Bears 65-62. The Trojans won by the skin of their teeth after a very slow start trailing by as many as 16 points with 4:35 left in the first half. Forward Aaron Fuller scored 19 points and guard Maurice Jones scored 18 points in the Trojans victory.

Long Beach State 49ers defeat Boise State Broncos 72-68. Despite the hero of the 49ers upset win over the Pitt Panthers Casper Ware scoring only five points, the rest of the team made up for it with T.J. Robinson scoring 18 with 13 boards, James Ennis scoring 16 and Eugene Phelps scoring 11 points.

Cal State Northridge Matadors defeat San Diego Christian Hawks 95-68.
