Microwave Plays YouTube Videos As It Nukes

It's video lunchtime! Don't you wish your microwave entertained you while warming your midday treats? Well, students from the University of Pennsylvania have made this possible.

Dubbed the μWave, the appliance is outfitted with a tablet in lieu of a screen that fetches highly rated YouTube videos of the same duration as your cook time. But μWave doesn't stop there. It has its own Twitter account and tweets that you visited plus sends you a text message when your food is ready.

The microwave hackers - Kevin Conley, Varun Sampath, Benjamin Shyong, Teddy Zhang - and their μWave won first place in the PennApps hackathon 2011, scoring an all-expense paid trip to present their product to engineers at Google NYC.
