Manhattan Beach Ranks As 5th Most Educated California City
Well, well, well, Manhattan Beach and La Cañada Flintridge... Looks like you both made the list among eight NorCal cities as two of the Golden State's most educated cities. We tips our hats to you both. Thank you for shining.
An analysis by the California Department of Finance's Demographic Research Unit identified the percentage of residents with a bachelor's degree or higher, and voila, the list.
1. Palo Alto, 79.7%
2. Los Altos, 76.2%
3. Saratoga, 75.9%
4. Cupertino, 73.4%
5. Manhattan Beach, 72.9%
6. Lafayette, 71.4%
7. La Cañada Flintridge, 70.7%
8. Davis, 69.1%
9. Berkeley, 68.4%
10. Menlo Park, 68.1%
The study found that, statewide, 80.6% of Californians are least high school graduates. Three out of ten hold a bachelor's degree, while 10.9% boast a graduate or professional degree.
Los Angeles owns the top ten list of least educated cities in CA.
1. Bell Gardens, 44.9%
2. Maywood, 44.5%
3. Florence-Graham, 43%
4. Cudahy, 37.9%
5. Lennox, 37.6%
6. Bell, 36.5%
7. East Los Angeles, 36%
8. Watsonville, 35.4%
9. Huntington Park, 34.9%
10. Coachella, 34.7%
The list is based on educational attainment data for residents aged 25+ and only includes areas with a population of 20k+.
