LAst Night's Action: Kings Sweep Home-and-Home Against Ducks

LA Kings defeat Anaheim Ducks 5-3. Perhaps the Ducks’ "success" in Los Angeles Wednesday night was due to goaltender Jonas Hiller (they lost but least made it to the seventh round of the shootout). Against Dan Ellis in the pipes, the Kings got two five-on-five goals, two short-handed goals and a power-play goal en route to their 5-3 win over the Ducks. And for the very first time, the Kings have defeated the Ducks on consecutive nights.
Something to look at is emergency call-up defenseman Slava Voynov who scored a goal and an assist in this game. In seven games this season, he has recorded five points.
The Kings have now won four of their last five games and have momentarily taken first place in the Pacific Division. The Ducks, on the other hand, have only won two of their last 14 games and looks rooted in the cellar of the division for now. Also according to Kings’ PR meister Jeremy Zager, the last time the Kings scored two short-handed goals was at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Nov. 13, 2005 when Alexander Frolov and Craig Conroy did the honors.
