Another SoCal region has been occupied, but its mission focuses not on corporate greed but on infrastructure. Occupy Santa Clarita is marching to the beat of its own drum, straying from the beaten path of other Southland occupations like Occupy L.A.

"Occupy Santa Clarita will take a stand against neglected infrastructure within the city," says a statement received by The Santa Clarita Valley Signal. "The group has discovered that Santa Clarita is home to 18 defective bridges in need of repair or attention."

The group of local residents rallying to form the occupation calls upon "citizens of Santa Clarita who believe our community deserves safe bridges to travel" and Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, "to support jobs-creating legislation in Congress."

Occupiers will meet for the first time on Tuesday at 4pm outside Central Park in Saugus to address “The Defective Bridges of Santa Clarita.”

I'm part of Occupy Santa Clarita. We're just as concerned about Corporate greed as other Occupy groups. At our GA meeting it was decided to hold this event as a way to show others how the issues we talk about are impacting us here locally. Thursday we will be meeting at the corner of Valencia and McBean to protest and then march on City Hall in solidarity with the Occupy movement across the country.
