Street Art Lovers + Bicycle Lovers = Saturday Mural Tour
Bicycling Angelenos, pedal to Lincoln Park this Saturday, November 12, for a curated two-wheeled tour of L.A. street murals. Trained ride leaders from Cyclists Inciting Change thru LIVE Exchange (C.I.C.L.E.) will lead a 7.5-mile ride through Lincoln Heights, Boyle Heights and the Downtown Arts district.
Don't let the ride length scare you. Curated by the Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles (MCLA), the leisurely-paced ride suits Angelenos of all shapes, sizes, ages and fitness levels.
And there will be stops. While cruising the arts district, riders will take a break to check out works by Earth Crew, Askew One, Shepard Fairey, How and Nosmand more, courtesy of MCLA.
The tour ends at Gorilla Arts for well-deserved afterparty. The entrance fee is a suggested donation of $10 and scores you a drink coupon for a New Belgium brew, a raffle ticket plus a mural pamphlet featuring works along the ride. DJ Altar will be spinning tunes, and tamales, drinks and cupcakes by Big Man Cakes will be available for purchase. A raffle closes the night and boasts sweet prizes, including art, bicycle gear and a gift certificate to Urban Noodle.
Funds raised during the afterparty will benefit C.I.C.L.E. and MCLA.
Participants should meet at 1:30pm at Lincoln Park by the Valley Boulevard parking lot to register. The park is located 1.5 miles from the China Town Gold Line Stadium. The ride departs at 2pm.
Here's what C.I.C.L.E. says to bring:
Your bicycle, in good running order, and plenty of night lights. All participants should be able to ride a bike safely with the ability to brake, change gears, and balance while stopping and starting.
