Yes, They Still Want to Put a Park On Top of the 101 Freeway: Hollywood Central Park Launches New Website

It sounds pretty heavenly: A 44-acre street level park "on top" of the 101 Hollywood Freeway. It's an idea that's been in the works since 2006 (though its roots trace back to nearly three decades ago), and, with the support of several politicians and organizations, is making progress on its timeline. The next hurdle: The Environmental Impact Report.

To help continue to raise the profile (and funds) for the project, Hollywood Central Park has launched a snazzy new website, complete with a "fly over" video of the project. The website also has a map of the proposed project you can explore.

It's not clear how long it could (or will) be until this freeway "cap" park is a reality. The Friends of the Hollywood Central Park continue to hold their annual fundraising gala; the next one is January 5, 2012.

A park on top of the 101 Freeway would be an amazing thing, right?

What.The.Fuck?! How are people going to get to this park? Oh right, in traffic. This is seriously one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard of. Instead of spending money building some stupid park on top of the freeway use that money to build a subway and create better public transportation for Los Angeles! The roads are about ready to explode with all the traffic!
