Thousand Oaks Football Player Found Dead, Possible Victim of Alcohol Poisoning

Griffen Kramer, a backup quarterback for Thousand Oaks High School and son of former NFL quarterback Erik Kramer, was found dead on Sunday morning in Agoura Hills. The cause of death is still under investigation, but officials believe the 18-year-old football player may have died from alcohol poisoning.

The athlete's body was discovered at a friend's house, and L.A. County sheriff's officials reported no signs of foul play. Kramer apparently stayed at a friend's house on Saturday night and did not awake on Sunday.

School officials said that the "initial indications suggest his passing was due to alcohol poisoning" in a statement today, reports the Ventura County Star. An investigation is currently underway by the coroner's office.

Kramer may have suffered a pre-existing medical condition, says Sheriff's Sgt. Vivian May of the Lost Hills Station. Sheriff's officials declined to comment on the possible alcohol poisoning.

Administrators and counselors are expected to visit the senior's classes today offering support for staff and students.

"He told The Star in August that he attended Agoura High as a freshman
but spent part of his sophomore year in a rehab center for substance
    abuse."
