Mom & Boyfriend Beat 2-Year-Old Son to Death
We've reported on a "father of the year" here, a "mother of the year" there over the past few months, and now we've got a winning pair to sadly detail.
A 19-year-old mother, Jennifer Zolorzano, and her 21-year-old boyfriend, Joe Hickman, were arrested on Saturday morning for beating Zolorzano's 2-year-old son to death.
Homicide investigators from the L.A. Sheriff's Department responded to the 38200 block of 5th Street East in the City of Palmdale to probe the toddler's death. Their investigation initially revealed that the mother rushed the boy to the hospital due to head injuries after he allegedly slipped and fell while taking a bath. The child was pronounced dead by medical staff upon arrival to the hospital.
Upon further investigation, officials discovered that the boy's body was covered with multiple bruises and burns. The injuries were not consistent with the mother's statements.
Zolorzano and Hickman both admitted to brutally beating the child inside their Palmdale home after further probing by investigators. The couple was arrested for murder and booked at the Palmdale Sheriff's station. They are being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
