On Sunday, October 16, California will pay homage to a man, a visionary, a wicked genius who, as President Obama so rightfully defined, "changed the way each of us sees the world" - Steve Jobs. Governor Jerry Brown has dubbed tomorrow as Steve Jobs Day.
Governor Brown tweeted to his one million plus followers on Friday night, "This Sunday will be Steve Jobs Day in the State of California."
The day of tribute falls on the same day that Apple will hold a memorial in Jobs' honor at Stanford University. Jobs delivered an inspiring Stanford Commencement Address in 2005, which we shared in a previous video lunch.
The world has been mourning the loss of Jobs since his death on October 5. He had been battling pancreatic cancer since 2004 and recently resigned from his position as Apple CEO in August, stating that he could no longer meet his duties and expectations of his role.
Makeshift memorials have appeared in front of numerous Apple stores, including one Andy Warhol-esque rendering of Jobs at the Third Street Promenade location in Santa Monica. Apple will celebrate an employees-only memorial at its headquarters in Cupertino, CA on October 19.
