UCLA May Allow Co-Ed Dorm Rooms
Watch out, America -- our nation's moral fiber is unraveling with frightening haste. The latest proof? UCLA is reportedly considering allowing male and female students to room together.
Suzanne Seplow of UCLA's office of Residential Life tells CBS News that the possible change comes on the heels of universities finding ways to accommodate transgendered students. Many have decided to allow students born as males, for instance, but living as females to room with other female students.
As that becomes more common, some colleges have considered doing away with the often-employed rule against opposite-sex roomies.
"UCLA is just following suit of this national trend," said Seplow.
Under the proposed change, students would still be assigned roommates of the same gender, but could request to live with someone of the opposite sex. This would allow, according to CBS, "friends" to cohabitate.
The regulation is still under consideration, but could come to fruition as early as next year. Students, ready your change requests.
