Obama(jam) Is Coming Back to L.A. This Month For a Fundraiser Aimed at Bolstering Latino Support

He's back — and so soon! President Barack Obama is returning to Los Angeles this month for another round of fundraising, according to the Hollywood Reporter. This next round of fundraiser is going to be aimed at raising money from Latino supporters, like Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria and radio show host Piolin.

The co-hosts will be news anchor Giselle Fernandez and attorney Manny Sanchez, and the invites for the event on Monday, October 24 should be going out soon.

But all you care about is traffic, right? There's no information yet on where the fundraiser will be held, so stay tuned. It's also not clear if Obama will stick around to shake the hands of anyone who isn't writing him a check (which some have suggested might ease our bitterness over the Obamajamming).

Tina Daunt explains what invitees to this fundraiser might be looking for:

Like Latinos generally, the invitees to this month's L.A. gala will be looking for reassurance that the President intends to more aggressively pursue comprehensive immigration and to reduce a deportation rate that exceeds that of George W. Bush's administration and which many analysts allege splinters working Latino families. During his last campaign, Obama promised to introduce a comprehensive immigration reform bill during his first year in office, a commitment he and his aides say was thwarted by implacable Republican opposition.

Perhaps the best thing the President has going with Latinos this time around is the current field of candidates in pursuit of the Republicans' nomination. They seem determined to make any deviation from a hardline anti-immigrant posture a capital offense, which is likely to push Latinos further into Obama's embrace.

hows that hope and change working out for you? The prez is a corporatist and a tool of wall street. He sees his re-election in danger and now he will play the race card, using a us vs them strategy. We wont be fooled again...

This clown shoe is a one term president.

His administration loves to find avenues and loopholes to take away more and more of your civil liberties.

Most Latinos will vote by what their unions tell them and guess who the unions support...Barry Soetoro.

Also - the Occupy movement is being hijacked by Obama fronts and union goons to push their agenda. When I started to read more and more about the Occupy movement, at first I was like "yeah" but now I'm like "nah".

  • He would get more latino support if he wasn't running our economy into the ground

  • As Latinos in general, the guests at the Gala this month for sure that
the President intends to pursue more aggressively to reduce immigration,
and deportation rate exceeds that of the administration of George W.
Bush 's, and many http://www.pulauweb.com analysts argue chips working Latino families.

Latinos vote in lesser numbers than the general population.

  • ShakinBoots

So ethnic and racial profiling IS ok if you're running for office and fundraising, but NOT ok if you're pulling over a speeding driver?

That's exactly what this is....RACIAL PROFILING AND STEREOTYPING.

I am so sick of these "latino vote" stereotypes. Why do people expect that because we are latino & hispanic, that we are automatically in favor of illegal immigration and/or fewer deportations!!??

Contrary to what people think, all the welcoming and the falling over backwards by politicians to cater to illegals MAKES MANY OF US LATINOS VOTE AGAINST THEM!

We are AMERICANS first and we do NOT ALL want our country invaded by illegals regardless of their ethnicity or where they come from. To continue assuming that because of our anscestry, we are not "American enough" to want to protect this country is a HUGE INSULT!

It is an INSULT that policitans continue to stereotype me,, my family, and friends along ethnic lines.

Obama and any other politician who refuses to enforce our immigration laws and curtail the influx of illegals, will NEVER have our vote.

Signed: A pissed off, tired of being stereotyped and insulted because of my ethnicity Mexican-American CHICANA!

  • Rob Roland

Obama has deported more illegals than pretty much any other President we've had.
What else do you want?  Militarized zones?  Firing squads on the border?  How do you propose this be done better?

How exactly is Obama attempting to stereotype you by having a fundraiser for latino voters?  You never bothered to explain that in your ill placed rant.  I don't see any hint here that he thinks you're any less American than myself, a caucasian man born in central California.

  • ShakinBoots

Your comment is so simple minded. We get it, you love Obama and illegals. My response was to the use of the term "latino voter" and the stereotyping by politicians (NOT JUST your man Obama) of what this cookie cutter "latino voter" expects from them. To give you an example from this post (seems you need things spelled out for you or you'll go off on a "militarized zones?" rant). Tina Daunt: "Like Latinos generally, the invitees to this month's L.A. gala will be looking for reassurance that the President intends to more aggressively pursue comprehensive immigration and to reduce a deportation rate that exceeds that of George W. Bush's administration and which many analysts allege splinters working Latino families." Read what she said, and then read my first comment again. How much clearer does it need to be for you? Also, "splinters working latino families"??? NOT if they are working here legally! These politicians aren't responding to AMERICAN LATINOS. They are responding to the wants of illegals!!! A caucasian man from central CA might be ignorant enough to believe their crap, but a Mex-AMERICAN from LA isn't falling for it and neither are many of my friends & family.

  • Rob Roland

Yep, still a rant, still pointless.

You actually don't know my feelings on either Obama or illegal immigration, but you've just decided it's wrong.

What makes you think you speak for the majority of American Latinos, anyhow?  Just because deportations don't splinter your family doesn't mean it doesn't splinter other Latino families.

You're in no position to call anyone simple minded.

  • ShakinBoots

After reading your comments, I am in EXACTLY the position to call you simple minded. Again you are commenting to me without even comprehending what i've said. Are you even reading my responses before you comment back? If you had, you wouldn't have said "What makes you think you speak for the majority of American latinos anyhow?". Lol really? Can you please point me to where I claim to speak for all? You can't. I said in TWO comments now "me, my family and friends". I'd say that is pretty clear who i've talked with and who feels the way I do on the subject of "the latino voter" and on not wanting "fewer deportations". Really dude, unless you are able to respond to what i'm ACTUALLY SAYING, you are just a waste of time.

  • Rob Roland

Still ranting, still proving my point.

"Why do people expect that because we are latino & hispanic, that we are automatically in favor of illegal immigration and/or fewer deportations!!??"

Oh look, there's you pretending to speak for other Latino voters.  "We" vs. "I"

"These politicians aren't responding to AMERICAN LATINOS."

There you go again.  Speaking for American Latinos.

"It is an INSULT that policitans continue to stereotype me,, my family, and friends along ethnic lines. "

Okay, that time you acknowledged it's you and not "we" - that makes more sense.

"Obama and any other politician who refuses to enforce our immigration laws and curtail the influx of illegals, will NEVER have our vote. "

Last I checked, deporting illegal immigrants and wanting comprehensive immigration reform IS enforcing our immigration laws.

As I said previously, you're in no position to call anyone simple minded.  You want to play the victim card.  Feel free.  See how far that actually gets you.

  • ShakinBoots

You are really ignorant son. I don't have time to respond to your rant right now, but I will later. Stay tuned and be schooled.

  • Rob Roland

    Son?

Nice. Stay classy. Or, maybe that's klassy with a K in this respect.
