8 UC Campuses Place in Times Higher Education World Rankings
University of California (UC) campuses, we applaud you. Of the 400 international universities ranked in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2011-12, eight UC campuses made the cut and were listed among the top 200.
UC Berkeley leads the group in 10th place, followed by UCLA in slot 13. The remaining six placed as follows.
UC San Diego, 33; UC Santa Barbara, 35; UC Davis, 38; UC Irvine, 86; UC Santa Cruz, 110; UC Riverside, 143.
Schools were evaluated in the below five categories.
- Teaching — the learning environment (worth 30% of the overall ranking score)
- Research — volume, income and reputation (worth 30%)
- Citations — research influence (worth 30%)
- Industry income — innovation (worth 2.5%)
- International outlook — staff, students and research (worth 7.5%)
