Bandits Posing As DWP Workers Rob Elderly Silver Lake Man
If employees of the Department of Water and Power (DWP) surprise you with a visit, do not open your door. In fact, you might want to call the police. Two men posing as DWP workers ransacked an elderly man's home in the 800 block of North Robinson Street in Silver Lake last week.
The victim suffers from limited mobility, and, according to The Eastsider LA, was standing in his home near the front door when the men opened the door and entered. They claimed they were from DWP and that the water was contaminated. As the suspects began turning on faucets in the house, the resident lost sight of his visitors.
After ransacking the man's room, the bandits fled with stolen money and neglected to turn off the faucets. The man realized what had transpired after he turned off the running faucets and saw his disheveled quarters.
Suspects are described as possible gypsies, 40 years of age and weighing in around 180-200 pounds each. One of the thieves is bald on just the top of his head and may have his left ear pierced. The other has long, messy hair and red marks on his cheeks.
