A cheerleader collapsed and later died while cheering against her school's rival at a Friday night football game.

Angela Gettis, 16, a sophomore at Washington Prep High School, collapsed on the sidelines around 9 p.m. while her team played rivals Fremont High School. She was revived briefly on the sidelines, but she went into cardiac arrest at the hospital later on Saturday morning.

"They had just tied the game up, and the cheerleaders were pumped up," a witness Cameron Bonner told City News Service. She appeared "to just pass out," he said.

No one is sure what killed her Gettis. Her family told reporters that she had no known health problems, but the coroner will perform an autopsy on her. Gettis was a top student, she was in the ROTC and she planned to study forensic science.
