Toddler Rushed to Hospital After Eating Cocaine, Parents Jailed
An 18-month-old boy has been placed in protective custody with San Luis Obispo County's child welfare department after ingesting cocaine. Priscilla Tabarez, the toddler's 20-year-old mother, called police on Wednesday morning to report that her son had eaten some cocaine.
According to the San Luis Obispo County Tribune, the boy, whose name has not been released, ingested the cocaine orally because it was "left out where he could get to it," said police.
Police and fire departments responded to the apartment on the 9300 block of Bocina Lane in Atascadero at approximately 10:38am. The child showed symptoms of being under the influence of cocaine and was rushed to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton for treatment. He was later placed in protective custody.
Tabarez, the boy's 26-year-old father, Daniel Sanchez, and Tabarez's 18-year-old brother, Isaac Tabarez, who was also at the house at the time of the incident, were arrested on charges of felony child endangerment.
All three adults have been booked at the San Luis Obispo County jail in lieu of $100k bail each.
