LAPD to Crack Down on 'Flash Robs'

You've heard of flash mobs -- gatherings of people, coordinated online or on phones, who are getting together because they just want to dance.

But now, police are cracking down on what are known as "flash robs," according to CBS News -- when a group of people get together at a place like a 7-11, walk in, and rob it.

Apparently flash robs are common enough that LAPD is instructing its Internet Unit to keep a close watch on online activity to keep an eye on any that may develop, or try to develop. CBS News reports:

“This is all new,” said LAPD Officer Lyle Knight. “With social media, it’s evolving, and we try to evolve with the upcoming technology.”
