4-Year-Old Survives Fall from 2nd Story Apartment Window

A child is in critical condition today, recovering from injuries sustained when she fell out of a second-story window in a Santa Ana apartment building. The four-year-old girl had been bouncing on a bed situated next to an open window, according to L.A. Now. She bounced through the window screen, tumbling head-first onto the ground below.

The girl was visiting the apartment with her mother, and had made her way to the bedroom with the apartment occupant's child, a three-year-old. The two played unsupervised while their mothers prepared dinner.

The child is expected to recover from her injuries.

Recently, similar accidents have had fatal consequences. In August, a 12-year-old Palmdale boy died when he was impaled by a shard of glass as he fell from a window while playing on a bed. Previously, a four-year-old boy fell to his death in Marina Del Rey when he tumbled out a window next to a bunk bed.
