Officer Charged in Kelly Thomas' Death Being Held in Isolation

Manny Ramos, one of the Fullerton police officers charged in the death of Kelly Thomas, is being held in isolation in at the Orange County jail while he awaits arraignment, reports KTLA.

Ramos' attorney is out of town, and he's being held on $1 million bail.

Ramos is facing the most severe sentence in connection with Thomas' beating death. Charged with one felony count of second-degree murder and one felony count of involuntary manslaughter, he could be sentenced to up to 15 years in jail if convicted.

The other officer being charged in the case, Cpl. Jay Cicinelli, was released on Wednesday on $25,000 bail after pleading not guilty to one felony count of involuntary manslaughter and one felony count of use of excessive force.

Ramos' attorney insisted that his client was innocent of any wrongdoing yesterday.
