Street Artist Shepard Fairey Sticker Bombs L.A. City Hall
The City of L.A.'s restrictions on murals does not sit well with most artists. On Monday graffiti artist SABER challenged the moratorium by sky tagging L.A. And now infamous street artist Shepard Fairey is "voicing" his discontent via sticker bomb.
L.A. City Planning posted a photo of a package gifted by Fairey on their Facebook wall along with the caption "Shepard Fairey sticker bombs City Hall." The image was posted on Wednesday, and as we squint through a digital microscope, it appears to have been addressed to Tanner Blackman, a planner at Department of City Planning, on the 7th floor.
The manilla envelope, sans return address or note, was brimming with Fairey's iconic black, red and white stickers. Maybe his statement wasn't quite as involved as SABER's, but it was timed nicely with today's KCRW Which Way, L.A.? podcast, "Is the Moratorium on Murals Killing an LA Tradition?"
Are the gents in this together? Judging by one of SABER's sky tags that read "OBEY," we thinks it's possible.
Oh, and Blackman, if you don't find proper use for those stickers, send some our way. We love us some Andre.
