The first in burlesque this week is Celebrating the Art of Femininity - The Inaugural Los Angeles Breast Cancer Fundraiser Benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The burlesque-themed "luscious celebration of beauty and femininity in the heart of Hollywood," per a press release, boasts a live performance by Hells Belles Burlesque along with avant-garde live installations, models clad in burlesque garb, a five-tier pink cake by Charm City Cakes, liquid nitrogen cocktails by Chef Marcel Vigneron, custom art plus a tribute to local breast cancer survivors and fighters. Beginning at 7pm, the fundraiser goes until 10pm at Falcon Hollywood. Ticket donations are $25 online and $35 at the door. RSVP required.
Harvelle's in Santa Monica heats up at 10pm on Thursday with a NSFW performance by Harlow Gold. Brand X said of the show, "If you're not mentally, physically and spiritually wrung out by the end of the evening, then you were already dead before you even walked through the door." Tickets cost $10 for general admission, $15 for side seating and $25 for preferred front row seating.
Friday night's show at The Room in Hollywood presents The Lalas, "L.A.'s busiest and hottest burlesque group," per their website. Performances go beyond traditional burlesque with the spicy, arresting choreography of Erin Lamont. Doors open at 8pm; the two-hour show starts at 8:30pm. Admission is $10 at the door.
