Bandit Steals Lunchbag Instead of Handbag
A male thief in West Covina foiled his own mission on Monday, grabbing the wrong bag in a petty theft attempt. Instead of nabbing a woman's purse, he darted away with her lunch.
The man parked his white pickup truck near a woman walking on the 1900 block of West Garvey Avenue around 2:15pm. According to West Covina police Lt. Tommy Garcia, the robber approached the 49-year-old woman with a small-caliber gun. After failing to grab her shoulder purse, the thief seized a pouch containing her lunch. Once safe in his truck, the robber inspected his goods, realized his blooper, tossed the bag out of his window and drove away from the scene. Maybe the crusts weren't cut off?
The police report declined to specify the contents of the lunchbag.
Described as a Latino male between 25- and 30-years old, the suspect is 5'5" with a thin build and wearing a black, short-sleeved shirt. His vehicle is a white, two-door Toyota truck with an extra cab. The female passenger is described as a Latina between 25- and 30-years-old and wearing a floral print dress.
