Dolores Hope, Widow of Bob Hope, Dead at 102

Dolores Hope, widow of famed actor and comedian Bob Hope, has died. She was 102. Hope, born Dolores DeFina in May 1909 in New York City, had a career as a professional singer and entertainer in the 1930s under the name Dolores Reade. "She met Bob Hope when she was singing at a club in Manhattan in 1933, and it was 'love at first song,' as he described it," notes ABC7.

She was well-known throughout her life for not just being Bob's staunch supporter but also a philanthropist. Hope was honored numerous times in her life for her good works in the community and society.

Hope helped her husband Bob, whom she married in 1934, celebrate his 100th birthday in 2003. A few weeks later, Bob Hope died. The following year, the couple's son Anthony also died. All four of the Hope children were adopted.

In 2008 Hope had a health scare and was briefly hospitalized after having a small stroke. Hope died at around noon today of natural causes in her Toluca Lake home.
