It's Going to Cost You At Least $15.50 To Take A Cab From Burbank Airport
Starting next week, it's going to cost you at least $15.50 to take a taxi if you're flying into Burbank — even if you live just a few blocks away. The cabbies there are sick of passengers who hail a cab to get to a parking lot just outside the airport.
The short trips end up being a burden for drivers, who wait for hours in a queue, only to get a pittance from a short trip, according to The Burbank Leader.
"This is not good for the taxi driver to just collect $10," Albert Shamirian, taxi coordinator at the airport, told the paper.
Burbank's city traffic commissioners approved the minimum fare from the airport, which will take effect next week. It will still be cheaper to hail a cab in Burbank than LAX. Cabs at LAX charge a $15 minimum, plus a $4 surcharge that is supposed to improve dispatch systems at the airport.
