TV Junkie: 'Sunny' & 'Archer' Premiere Tonight; Doofus DGA Report
FX strikes again tonight with the season premieres of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" (see vid clip above) and "Archer." Enjoy "Sunny" as it may be the last season for this show. Meanwhile "Archer" has really stepped into the limelight as of halfway through last season and it will again be pushing all sorts of boundaries.

Stupid Things In The Media: Today's example is an article referencing a new report from The Directors Guild of America that looks at the diversity of directors who helped create episodic television in the 2010-2011 season. The report found several shows, including HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Bored To Death" to be directed almost exclusively by white males. The problem I have with this conclusion directed at these two shows in particular is that the report does not take into account that these shows have only a handful of shows per season: 10 for "Curb" and 8 for "Bored." The report also does not take into account the relationship that the director has with other aspects of the show. In the case of "Curb," almost all of the directors were also writers on the show and had long experience with the form of non-scripted acting that makes the show such a success. On the flip side, will "Bored To Death" get commendations from the Producers Guild of America for having 3 of its 6 producers be female or will "Bored To Death" be condemned by the Screen Actors Guild because the show's 3 protagonists are white males?
The DGA is lacking some common sense criteria as it applies to these kinds of reports.
