Crews Continue Search for Missing 8-Year-Old in San Bernardino Mountains
The search continues for Joshua Robb, an 8-year-old autistic boy, who ran away from Grandview Elementary School in Twin Peaks on Monday morning. He escaped through the playground gates around 11am, and while school staffers attempted to chase Robb, they were unable to find him. Search and rescue crews are still combing the woods of the San Bernardino Mountains.
Rain and low temperatures have made the search difficult, as it rained intermittently throughout the night with temperatures dropping to the 40s. Crews used thermal equipment and helicopters during the night search. Robb dislikes loud noises and may not respond to his name being called out from helicopters.
The boy's parents say Robb has never been separated from them but was removed from their custody after a witness saw the boy tied to a pole. Robb's father says this is a method commonly used to restrain the boy. He believes Robb ran away from the school to find his parents. "All he knows is us. We've never had a break from my son ever since he was born," says Robb's father, according to KABC. "We know for a fact that that's why he escaped, because he was out trying to find us," he added.
