As we're sure you've either heard, via various news sources and/or local complaints, or experienced, a bomb scare in front of the Kodak Theatre forced an evacuation of the surrounding Hollywood and Highland areas this afternoon while a bomb squad investigated the scene.

A suspicious pickup truck parked in front of the theatre was the culprit, causing not only temporary street closures and an evacuation but also the temporary closure of the The Hollywood/Highland Red Line Station. The threatening vehicle contained several barrels and was parked unattended in a no parking zone.

After bomb squad officials deemed the vehicle safe, it was towed away. Hollywood life resumed.

What do you think of this incident, L.A.? Were the security measures taken too extreme or completely appropriate given the recent 9/11 anniversary? Talk to us.

  • I was up in an office across the street from the Chinese theater, and watched the whole thing play out from the window.. We were not immediately evacuated but found out what was going on Via twitter.. they later evacuated us as a precautionary measure (everyone else on the street was already pushed back past Orange. The car was parked very suspiciously in the middle of the road, not even on the side, and had hazard lights flashing. Though when we looked it didn't appear to have anything in the bed of the truck, maybe they had removed them.
