Mother Will Serve 12 Years For Murder of 10-Year-Old Daughter
A woman who was charged with murdering her daughter and then attempting to take her own life has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison, reports the Daily Breeze.
On July 9, 2010, Bong Sook Chavez, now 51, was lying in bed with her 10-year-old daughter Quesi in their home at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro. At around 2:30 a.m., Chavez pulled out a knife and stabbed Quesi in the neck, then stabbed herself in the neck as well. They were found by Chavez' husband, a retired U.S. Navy reservist.
Both mother and daughter were taken to a hospital, where Quesi died several hours later.
