Spicy Cargo: $1.4 Million Worth of Pot Discovered in Hot Sauce Shipment

We like our hot sauce with tacos, burritos, eggs and mac 'n' cheese. According to Friday's scandalous cargo discovery near San Diego, some prefer a little thousands of pounds of marijuana with said spicy condiment.

Customs officers at the Otay Mesa cargo facility ran a 1991 Freightliner tractor pulling a trailer of "hot sauce" through the port's x-ray imaging system and noticed "anomalies with the cargo," reports KTLA.

Officers unloaded the shipment to uncover 123 wrapped packages of pot. Oh, and they found a few bottles of hot sauce, too.

The street value of the cannabis is $1.4 million.

The driver, a 39-year-old male Mexican citizen and Tijuana resident, was arrested at the scene.
