Police Search For Mentally Challenged Mother and Infant Daughter

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a 23-year-old woman who went missing over the weekend along with her 4-week-old daughter.

According to a statement issued this morning by the LAPD, Kathy Nicole Leath and her daughter, Genesis True Leath, were last seen by her uncle Cortez Leath at the Ralph's on San Vicente and Pico at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The three were grocery shopping together when Cortez says that he that he stepped away from Kathy for a moment. When he returned, she and Genesis were gone. Kathy has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old child, and Cortez serves as her conservator.

Kathy is described as a 5'6 and 160 pounds, and she was wearing a purple tank top and jeans when she disappeared. Genesis was wearing a purple onesie.
