Buddy, 'The Amazing Surfing Dog,' To Be Inducted into Surf Dog Hall of Fame
Canine surfers have long been underrated for their wave shredding abilities, but this is about to change come September 11. The first surfing dog - Buddy - will be inducted into the Surf Dog Hall of Fame.
The seasoned 14-year-old Jack Russell terrier has been surfing the Pacific with his owner, Bruce Hooker, for the last decade, according to Huffington Post. The men usually surf off the coast of Ventura County.
Buddy's achievements are rather unique for an animal. The athletic pooch has garnered numerous tournament wins, including the first four Surf Dog Surf-A-Thons. He became the "Fido face of dog surfing" after appearances on Animal Planet, Pet Star, ESPN, CNN, NBC and the CBS Morning Show.
The Surf Dog Hall of Fame is slated as part of the Helen Woodward Animal Center's Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon, an event that raises funds for the center's orphaned animals.
Buddy's boards of choice are his boogie board and soft top longboard. Hang twenty, Buddy.
